About Vigilant Violet
Vigilant Violet is a security advisory, coaching, and talent practice built on one conviction: the best security professionals don't leave who they are at the door. They bring it in. And the field is better for it.
Whether you're an organization that needs a seasoned security leader or a professional ready to own your next move, this is where you land when you're done waiting for someone to hand you a seat.
Meet Jess Vachon
I’m a Global CISO, board director, Buddhist minister, and biker who came up through the Marines and spent 20 years learning that the best security isn’t just technical — it’s human.
I’m a member of the LGBTQ+ community. I’m a sneakerhead. I still love punk. I believe all of that belongs in the room — including the boardroom.
I founded Vigilant Violet because I wanted to do the work I find most meaningful: advising organizations on security strategy and helping professionals build careers without burning themselves down in the process.
My Core Values
Honesty, Authenticity, Transparency
I say what I mean, keep confidences, and look for the outcome that works for everyone. No hidden agendas. No performative toughness.
Kindness
Showing up for people — asking how they’re doing and meaning it, mentoring where I can, and hiring in a way that helps others rise. Security is a people problem. I try to act like it.
Mindfulness
Precision in what I produce, care in how I communicate. Centering others in the conversation. Not leaving people behind, in security or in life.
Social Responsibility
If my work isn’t making the world meaningfully safer and more equitable, I’m not doing my job.
The Vigilant Violet Way
I’m not here to maintain the status quo. I’m not interested in doing things because that’s how they’ve always been done. My punk spirit shows up in every engagement as a challenge to assumptions, a refusal to settle, and a commitment to bringing people with me.
Those who’ve worked with me know I walk the walk. Come find out.
